The inspiration for this tattoo design – the confederate flag – once represented the Confederate States of America during and before the civil war of the United States. The main cause of the war was a difference of opinion when it comes to slavery. With one side believing that slavery should be kept (South) while United States leaders were trying to change the situation, eventually leading to the birth of the confederate flag. Believed to be an emblem of the south, the flag is also known as the “Confederate Battle Flag”.

For some, rebel flag tattoos symbolizes the south’s deep roots: Southern pride, southern hospitality and the love for the areas in the south. Its origination has been somewhat forgotten and is replaced by people’s own perspective of the symbol. The confederate flag is mostly red with the exception of a blue cross with a white lining containing 13 stars. The stars are there to represent the different states that were part of the Confederate States of America.

It is not surprising that some people may not view the flag in a good light, especially considering how it originated.

Bearing this in mind, it might be best to think things over before getting a confederate flag tattoo designs. However, if you’re already bent on getting one, then you might want to think about the location of your tattoo. If there’s a possibility that you will come in contact of a lot of people, then you might try placing it somewhere less seen. Still, it will be your decision.

Those who already have the confederate flag tattoo designs have also edited the basic pattern and incorporating them with their own ideas. There are those who wrap it in basketballs, use it as clothes for different characters or wrapped around a football, depending on the person’s preference.
